The sector shaft in the original
box was supported by the casting itself, acting as a bushing.
We modify the Ford box with precision bearings to help support
the sector shaft and prevent seal failure (shown above).
A set screw on the original Ford
box is the weak link and promotes cracking. We correct the problem
by machining the nose cone and using a bolt-on feedback ring
which is much stronger. We've been making this modification
for over 10 years and is Baja proven!
